Welcome

Literacy Volunteers of Franklin & Somerset Counties offers an 18 hour workshop to train tutors to help those who need to improve their reading skills. This is done on a one-to-one basis, is confidential and free of charge. We tutor both adults and children, and work closely with the Adult Basic Education programs in both counties. Literacy Volunteers has a teen tutoring program which trains older children to work with younger students in the schools.

Mission

Literacy Volunteers of Franklin & Somerset Counties is a non-profit agency whose primary mission is to train volunteers to help adults learn to read on a one-to-one, confidential basis to improve their literacy skills. It also promotes and fosters literacy among children, teens, families and those for whom English is a second language.
